I installed version 1.8 lately. Since than every time when I open the program a message appears "there is a new update available" . But it is still the version 1.8. I re-installed it several times, but the message keep coming. It is very bouring that this message appears every time

A new option was added in 1.8 to check for development updates. This should be off by default, but something went wrong then apparently.

See Preferences=>Advanced=>Check for development updates, and uncheck that box.
